DFIII: Advent Children Rikku

After considering everything that Monty Oum wrote for guidance in one of his journals, I decided to take his advice and make one final design based on things I think he might like.


This is a design for Monty Oum's competition where you have to design a dressphere for Rikku which could potentially be used in his next movie, Dead Fantasy III. Here is a link to the details for the competition. Details.


I can not take full credit for this design, but I certainly got inspiration for it, so let me explain.


If you have seen the amazing animated film, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, then you will understand this costume. It would have been awesome to see Rikku in that film, so, this is what I think she would have worn if she had been in the film. The one on the left is more the colours that suit the film. She is wearing clothes similar to that of Cloud, the main character, but I wanted to keep certain aspects in so it is recognisable as a dressphere for Rikku. She would keep her scarf, head band and pouch bag. The top is a woolen fabric, making it flexible and versatile, and it has a stylish hood. She is wearing small leather shorts so she can use her legs to fight. Kick ass leather boots with buckles - I apologise for the crappyness of the feet, I can not draw feet!! The half leather coat attached to her right side with leather straps is just to show you she is linked with Cloud's wear some how, however, I would expect Monty to discard of it in the fight in some stylish way to allow her more room to move. Around her neck she is wearing the recognisable logo for Advent Children - the wolf pendant. And some lovely long leather gloves, just for sheer style. She is a trendy girl!


Her weapon is based on Cloud's HUGE sword. I just wanted to change it a bit to suit a woman - however, I would say Cloud is certainly looking at a challenege if he came face-to-face with Rikku in this form, wielding that sword! It is about the same size of her, so in this form she would be a heavy swordswoman. It is mainly steel with some blue metal running up the middle to hold it all together. The movements would be very powerful, but Rikku is strong enough to throw the sword, retract it, and dance with her weapon in both hands. There is no stopping this girl when she has this sword at the ready.


On the right, its just the same costume, but I wanted to see what it would look like if the colours were based off of Rikku's original costume in X-2. I don't think it is as cool, but its nice enough I guess.


And thats it, just wanted to give some info on the costume. Good luck to everyone that enters. Can't wait to see Dead Fantasy III!
